Another food that can be grilled on a gas stove is corn. Its as simple as shucking it and turning it over the flame.
The grilled kernels can be cut off and used in a salsa or other condiment, added to cornbread, or eaten off the cob. In India, corn grilled over coals is common as street food - always undercooked unless you stand there and make sure it's cooked properly. They season the corn with a wedge of lemon and some salt, which is how I ate this ear.
